I have been interested in the Peninsular War for about forty years and during that time have gained an extensive knowledge of the conflict. During that time my interests have changed and I now spend much of my spare time doing primary research. Having recently retired I now have more time to devote to this.
My first book was self published in 2002. The Fatal Hill described the allied campaign around the battle of Albuera in May 1811.
My current interest is the role of the Corps of Royal Engineers during the Peninsular War. I completed a PhD on this subject in 2009.

My book, Wellington's Engineers, was published by Pen & Sword in May 2015. The unpublished Diary of Edmund Mulcaster RE 1808-10 and the Letters of Lancelot Machell RE have been self published on Amazon along with some other items that I have been working on for many years. My book on Field Marshal John Burgoyne RE, Wellington's Favourite Engineer, was published in October 2020. My latest book, Wellington and the Lines of Torres Vedras was published in Autumn 2021. I am currently working on a book on the siege of San Sebastián in 1813.
Other plans include tidying up my extensive material on the Royal Engineers which will probably end up in the publication of at least two more books.
